Companies are rapidly automating and the resulting job impact will touch many. How do we prepare for this and adapt to this new reality? According to the Future of Jobs Report 2018 (World Economic Forum) we are in a new human-machine frontier.

Of the companies covered in the report, in 2018, 71% of the work is performed by humans and 29% by machines. By 2022, this is expected to shift to 53% by humans and 42% by machines.

Not all types of jobs are impacted but the skills that are being replaced with machines will have significant impact on people.

In the report, one estimate indicated that 75 million jobs may be displaced. As the same time, 133 million new roles may emerge that are more adapted to the new division of roles between humans and machines.

So while there are more jobs, how do we rapidly transition the workforce to this digital world?

One Planet Life thinks that exposing people to the technologies and then learning through doing can help people gain a fast footing in the new world.
