One Planet Life is excited to introduce our new Community Goal Challenges to our app. As we strive for a healthier planet, we know that small actions lead to significant impacts. Our Community Goals are loftier, longer-term challenges designed to inspire individuals and communities to adopt sustainable habits, track progress, and celebrate collective achievements.
What Are This Year’s OPL Community Goal Challenges?
One Planet Life Community Goal Challenges encourage participants to embrace practical, sustainable behaviors that align with One Planet Life’s core mission: to reduce environmental impact and promote mindful living. By focusing on a specific impact area for an extended amount of time, members of the OPL community can make significant collective progress.
These challenges cover different aspects of daily life, making it easy and rewarding to incorporate sustainable habits into routines.
2025’s Featured Community Goals
Join Now: Water Reduction Community Goal
Lower water consumption in your daily life through simple actions like turning off the water when you brush your teeth, taking shorter showers, and collecting rainwater to water outdoor plants.
Saving water matters! Here are a few reasons why we’ve chosen this goal for 2025:
- Water scarcity is increasing. According to the World Health Organization, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas by 2025. Around 2.2 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water.
- Water consumption is rapidly rising. Global demands for water are expected to increase by 55% or more by 2050 due to industrial, agricultural, and domestic needs. About 70% of global freshwater withdrawals are used for agricultural purposes.
- Climate change and extreme weather events are stressing water resources. Rising temperatures lead to higher evaporation rates, intensifying droughts and water shortages. UNESCO notes that about 1.5 billion people are directly affected by water-related disasters, including droughts and floods. Worldwide, the number of droughts has increased by 29% since 2000, according to UNDRR.

Coming Soon: Waste Reduction Community Goal
Commit to minimizing single-use plastics, composting organic waste, and adopting reusable alternatives.
Reducing waste little by little can have a big impact. Here are a few reasons why we’re excited to strive for this goal in 2025:
- Waste is a major contributor to climate change. The waste sector generates over 3 billion tons of CO₂-equivalent emissions per year, according to the World Bank. Food waste alone accounts for 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, with about 1.3 billion tons of food (one-third of all food produced!) being wasted annually.
- Plastic pollution is a growing crisis. Plastic production has ballooned since the 1950s. Today, over 400 million tons of plastic waste are produced annually worldwide, with most of it ending up in landfills or floating in our oceans. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation warns that there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean by weight by 2050.
