My family truly can’t get enough of this spicy snack mix.  It’s salty, cheesy, and crunchy – a perfect snack for game day or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Adapted from the Original Chex Party Mix.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick of butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons seasoning salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 6 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups wheat cereal squares (I use Wheat Chex)
  • 4 cups rice or corn cereal squares (I use Rice Chex or Crispix)
  • 21 oz cheddar crackers (I use extra-toasty Cheez-Its)
  • 24 oz seasoned pretzel nuggets (I use Snyder’s Pieces, either Jalapeno or Hot Buffalo Flavor)
  • 16 oz pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup mixed nuts

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, melt the butter.  Add the seasoning salt, garlic powder, and onion powder, and stir to combine.  Set aside.
  3. In a large, deep roasting pan, combine the wheat, rice, and corn squares, cheddar crackers, pretzel nuggets, pretzel sticks, and mixed nuts.  Pour the butter mixture over the mix, then toss gently.  Add worcestershire sauce and toss again gently, adding more Worcestershire sauce to taste as you like.
  4. Bake the snack mix in the oven for 60 minutes, stirring the mix gently every 15 minutes and being sure to dislodge any pieces sticking to the bottom of the roasting pan.
  5. Once baked for a total of 60 minutes, allow the snack mix to cool on the counter to room temperature.  Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
